Great selection, great service, awesome prices. I can see why this is an iconic Bowling Green establishment. I am still craving the cream filled donut that I had three weeks ago. I loved that they had some seating inside that I could sit down with my family and enjoy some dessert together (hey, donuts aren't just for breakfast, amiright?).

Donuts donuts donuts! My dad used to bring me to this place when I was FOUR years old. I'm now 29. I'm so glad that this place exists. Their prices have gone up recently by almost 28%, but if you look at it this way, their prices haven't increased in about 20 years or so, so it was time. Support local businesses!

I was only able to have two donuts while I was here, but I wish I would have been able to try more! The place smelled amazing and we had great service. I got the blueberry cake donut and a chocolate glaze donut, both of which were really good!

I have only been to GADS sober once, but it changed my life. It's super cheap and even more delicious. Since that one sober visit, I insist every time that GADS is the only place I will go when I need to sober up after a night of drunken fun.

What's more American than a donut? Excessive but cheap, fattening, yeasty... all adjectives that describe the American way more aptly than most other, more patriotic, descriptors. The unsung donut should be held high above New York Harbor by the Statue of Liberty. It should sit prominently on a plate next to Honest Abe in the Lincoln Memorial. A giant one would be a more appropriate Gateway to the West than some half-finished monument to McDs in St. Louis. It should be grasped tightly in the talons of that great bald eagle on each and every single dollar bill. Alas, the donut is relegated to these little shops across America, frying in oily obscurity, merely to be scarfed down with little thought to how truly praise-worthy each and every single one should be, whether they be glazed, cake, chocolate, sprinkled, creme-filled, jelly-filled, etc., etc., etc. Remember that when next you find yourself at the donut shop, take off your hat, give a hearty salute, sing an anthem, and say, "Thank you very much," to the lady that hands you that grease-stained paper bag/cardboard box, "God bless you." P.S. This place has good donuts.

The Great American Donut Shop (a.k.a. GADS) is good depending on the day and time that you go. If you can get there when the donuts are fresh they are some of the best ever. If you're looking for a late night or weekend snack though, don't expect to be wow'd

What: The absolute best donut shop. Hands down. Community owned and operated since the 1970s by the same Asian family, this local hole in the wall donut shop serves donuts twenty-four hours a day. Great for Western Kentucky University students (campus is nearly one block away) and BG folk. For those driving through Bowling Green, KY, on I-65, stop here for a piece of cheap and tastebud addicting amazingness. Why: Classic and timeless. The best fresh fried donuts. Must: Bavarian cremes and a small coffee. Custard-filled is always a favorite. Don't forget crullers and eclairs! #RajivRecommends100%withMilk #BowlingGreenKY #FoodReview #Nostalgia

The donuts here are wonderful. They are made fresh daily and there's lots of the old favorites. My favorite is the buttermilk cake. Oh my is it yummy. They also have this yummy caramel glazed one.. it runs a close second to the cake.

Came to GADS around 6:30 PM on a Sunday, ordered a dozen random donuts, and marveled at how amazing they tasted despite it being... well, 6:30 PM on a Sunday. They aren't fancy hipster donuts, but they are delicious nonetheless. I'm not even going to try and pick a favorite. Just go. It isn't a far detour at all if you're just passing through on the interstate--so worth it!

While visiting our friends in Kentucky, we stopped here for a little sweet treat! So many to choose from my husband came back with a box of 14 donuts! Needless to say, before we left Kentucky, they were are eaten.

I remember eating these as a kid. Now I live in Tennessee but when I come up I make a special trip here. The apple fritters are the best. But so is everything I have had from here! Love, love, love this place!

Great American Donut Shop...owned by an hard working Asian family for as long as I can remember. I used to ride my bike there as a kid and watch the dough proof in the see through window. Then I lived a block away while at WKU and stumbled there for hot caramel donuts and a good harassment from the old man. "you want a dozen, don't you red eyes?". Classic. It's hard to find fresh fried donuts, cherish this place. I moved away.

GADS qualifies as a local institution, people in Bowling Green love it so much (apparently including Rand Paul). The donuts are cheap and delish, and the shop never closes. Couldn't ask for more.

Great donuts. I recommend the blueberry and the twist.

This place has been open for longer than I've been alive. Their donuts are amazing and they are available 24/7, 364 days a year. (I think they close on Cristmas.)

I love GADS. The donuts are so yummy & I could eat a million of them. One of the only reasons I miss living in Bowling Green is because of these donuts. This place is a locally owned & operated bakery that is opened 24 hours a day. The staff is always prompt & friendly. The building is connected to a laundry mat and somewhat dated, but who cares, the donuts are great. My only compliant is that most of the donuts taste the same. Yes, they may have different toppings or fillings, but they all have the same, cake batter taste. Not bad, but I wish there was a little variety.

It seems like I'm giving out a lot of 5 star ratings on my vacation, but I guess that's just because it did my research. Here's one more for a delicious donut shop. I think I was going to give it 4 stars because they basically have no hot tea choices but then I had the Buttermilk Cake donut ... instant 5 stars.

Homer Simpson would cry tears of joy if he ever stepped foot in this establishment. As soon as u step through the door, that wonderful smell of heaven smacks you in the face and you can't help but smile and salivate. When I was in college at WKU, I would frequent this place at least twice a week to get my fix. Now that I live in Louisville and don't get to go as often, I truly appreciate the pure excellence that the bakers place into all of their donuts. If you're ever in bowling green, please make it your duty to stop by and try some of these orgasmic treats. Your taste buds will thank you later!

Fresh, delicious...if that JDs place I ragged for having Sysco cinnamon rolls & billing themselves as a bakery had gotten those outsourced rolls here, they'd have gotten a much better review from me! And much better cinnamon rolls! Its a win win situation here. You can't go wrong with fresh doughnuts. And this is the place to get'em. Open 24/7. Betting that if you get the just out a the cooker batch, its as good as winning the lottery (and easier to boot!) Stop in a get a dozen for the office and you'll be employee of the month for sure!

Open 24/7, this small donut shop produces some pretty amazing donuts. Every time we go to Bowling Green, my boyfriend needs to stop here. I think it has a very nostalgic value to him, but I don't say no because I love their blueberry cake donuts with a side of milk! Great place for a cheap midnight snack...or breakfast, if you are an early bird.

To me, an apparently ignorant yankee, the most surprising thing to me about GADS was that it appeared to be run by some Asian folks, who were pleasant when dispensing some solid but far from remarkable or memorable donuts. Some great banter with some locals on our way out.
